Bryan & Sara | Hazlehurst House

Walking into Sara's super calm house that morning, you would never be able to tell that 1.) a wedding was happening in a few hours, and 2.) there was approximately 90% chance of rain during what was supposed to be an outdoor ceremony....

Both Sara and Bryan were so excited and it's amazing to be a part of such a joyful wedding. Anytime I would ask Bryan a question, he would just say that the only thing he cared about was that he got to marry Sara that day. The theme of the reception was fun and games, and that truly describes the atmosphere of the whole day. I'm so happy for these two and so thankful to get to celebrate with them!

Banff, Alberta

I had never spent more than a couple of hours in Canada before this trip. I had gone over the border a couple of times, just long enough to grab a few foreign coins and think I was funny to order Canadian bacon on my pizza. But we were looking for a winter adventure and as you know, Winter Adventure is Canada's middle name. So we packed our bags for the Great White North!

1. Banff: The place where 2 out of 3 people are carrying skis, and 3 out of 3 people look more legit in their outerwear than you do.

I absolutely LOVE this town. From the moment you drive in and see the gorgeous view down Banff Ave., you can't help but love it. The people are unreasonably kind and everything looks like it should be on the front of an outdoor magazine. The views aren't too shabby either.

This was the little bed & breakfast that was home base during our stay in Banff. Big fan. Delicious breakfast and amazing hospitality.

Whitebark Cafe - one of my favorite spots in Banff! I don't want to brag but we're super good at leisure. So coffee shops are right up our alley.

2. Lake Minnewanka: we took our trusty rental Buick out for a scenic drive and stumbled upon beautiful Lake Minnewanka. And by lake, I mean flat field of snow. We didn't totally realize that all the beautiful aqua lakes we'd seen pictures of were frozen over and covered in snow. So we accidentally missed most of them....oops. Canada, we'll be back in the summer.

Lots of wind. Alllll the time.

3. The Icefields Parkway: hello, gorgeous. I don't even have the words to describe this place. The Icefields Parkway is the road between Banff National Park and Jasper National Park and it is supposed to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world. It's risky business driving this thing in a little Buick with no snow tires....in avalanche country....with not another soul for kilometers. So of course that's what we did.

I'm happiest when in the snow :)

4. Athabasca Glacier: hands down one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I knew there was an ice cave inside the glacier somewhere so we put our spikes on and set out to find it. The hike to the cave included multiple falls through waist-deep snow and 360 degree views of wild beauty the entire time. Holy cow.

We found the cave!

This is Aaron realizing there is a very deep gap in the glacier right along this blue wall of ice....while I simultaneously hear cracking on the ice I'm standing on... *insert freak out here* (spoiler: we get out alive)

6. Lake Louise: this place is absolutely dreamy. It's so beautiful and peaceful and feels like you're a million miles away from everything. Walking on the lake and right up to the mountains was pretty amazing.

David & Kacie | The Solarium

Meet David & Kacie. Here's what you need to know: their friends are hilarious, they like to risk their lives dodging cars in tunnels and on bridges on their wedding day, they have impeccable taste in dessert, they don't mind people TP'ing their wedding venue, and they really know how to have a good time. This wedding was a blast and I loved hanging out with them all day. I also absolutely loved working with their wedding planners from Becky's Brides and jamming with Atlanta Wedding Band

Congrats, David & Kacie!!

Andy & Bridgett | Monday Night Brewing

Speaking of people who really know how to party, meet Andy and Bridgett + Co. This wedding was so fun! There was too much dancing to be had, that they ended up skipping the usual business of bouquet toss, garter toss, sparkler exit, etc. for more celebrating! Now that's more like it. These two have spent their entire relationship long-distance, and I'm so happy that they finally get to be together for good. Congratulations, Andy & Bridgett!

And because I know you were concerned, no, we did not miss the game. They were cordially invited to the reception via iPad...

Paris

Paris. ::sigh:: Paris is just a dream.

We came fresh from snow-capped mountains and crystal blue Lake Geneva into romantic, golden-lit Paris. And it was all everything I hoped it would be. Everything in Paris is beautiful. It's an artist's dream. The buildings, cafes, arches, bridges - everything is so ornate. There is no ordinary. And there really are little men playing La Vie en rose on the accordion on street corners. I think I was floating an inch above the ground the entire time.

We stayed in an apartment right around the corner from the Luxembourg Gardens. This seemed like prime relaxation location. There were young and old men playing chess together in the park, people reclined with a book, and college kids sitting in circles playing guitars and singing.

The Louvre!

Next stop: Versailles. The crowds were a little overwhelming, but it was totally worth it, especially the gardens. There is so much to see and everything is so grand. It was definitely a sight to see.

Switzerland

Alright, folks. That thing I once had that made me reduce the number of photos I take and post to a reasonable amount - it has left the building. Ergo, if you choose to scroll down, you will see an overabundance of photos. I recently took a trip to one of the most beautiful places on earth with some of my favorite people on earth so my camera and I were very happy people.

Meet Pully, Switzerland - the incredibly beautiful little town just outside of Lausanne, where we made our base camp for our stay. It's right on Lake Geneva, so we had the view of the lake against the mountains to wake up to every morning. Swiss people are really kind, and the streets are clean and quiet. It's such a restful place and just makes you want to sit on a boat or a mountain with a journal and coffee and contemplate why you haven't moved to Switzerland already.

The view from our balcony. "The Adventure Six" took trains, boats and automobiles all around the country, but we always got to come back for this sight every morning.

The Alps. Good grief. I wanted some mountain drama, and these guys gave me DRAMA. We took a few trains to get up there and hiked all afternoon. They were absolutely splendid. 360º view of massive snow-capped majesty.

With love from Switzerland to West Lafayette, Indiana - BOILER UP!

With love from Switzerland to West Lafayette, Indiana - BOILER UP!

Interlaken is a beautiful touristy town at the base of the mountains. After a long day of hiking, we walked through Interlaken and had dinner, then sat in the park watching parachuters coming down from the mountains overhead.

Just a little ways down from Pully, there is an area with a ton of little family-owned vineyards that have been around for generations. Apparently you can just go up to one of the houses for a tasting or a tour, meet the wine maker, etc. And we did just that. We actually got a spontaneous private tour and the owner's wife and son sat down with us to visit and explain the different wines. It was incredible.

Gruyères, Switzerland. I'm not gonna lie - when they said we were going to Gruyères, I kind of thought it would just be a regular town that smelled like cheese and had blocks of cheese everywhere. I didn't expect this GORGEOUS town on top of a hill, with a castle, and a distinct feeling that you had just been sucked into a fairytale and were walking through the town from Beauty and the Beast. I was absolutely in love. But don't worry - we did eat lots of cheese.

Summary: Switzerland is amazing. They seem to value leisure and adventure in equal measures, which is something I can totally get behind. Maybe it's the clean mountain air that makes them think clearly. There is plenty of chocolate, trains, Swiss flags, and gorgeous views. What an incredible place.

Jeremy & Anna | Payne-Corley House

Jeremy and Anna got hitched! This wedding kind of made me want to trade in all my friends and family for their's.....(just kidding, friends and family.....kind of) Great food, great dancing, great speeches, and of course, great love. Congrats, J & A!

Matt & Janna | Juliette Chapel

"A July wedding seemed like such a good idea...in January." Quote of the day :) Matt and Janna had a gorgeous wedding in a chapel in the woods on a hot summer evening. It was such a beautiful wedding filled with genuine joy and excitement at these two people joining their lives together. It was an honor to get to celebrate with this intimate little group.

Congratulations, M & J!

Jeremy & Anna | Grant Park

Meet Jeremy and Anna. Big fan of these guys. We met up in Grant Park on what was most certainly the hottest day of the year. We did a little traipsing and a lot of sweating and had a great time.

They get married next month and I'm thrilled to be able to join them! Cheers, J & A!

Brandon & Adair | Valparaiso, IN

So, I'm not going to just come right out and SAY that I'm good luck, but the last three weddings I shot all had the unfortunate forecast of certain rain and they all ended up with sun and blue sky.... So I'll just leave the deductive reasoning up to you.

Brandon and Adair are so madly in love that I felt guilty being there interrupting their loving looks and canoodling :) It's always such a joy to see two people like that finally get to commit their lives to each other. It was such a fun and special day! Congrats, B & A!!

Pacific Northwest

I finally made it out to the Northwest! Washington was pretty great, but in my opinion, Oregon is where it's at. I once decided that people who live close to nature are happiest - and the good Oregonians I met on this trip are further proof of this. I need to get some plants.... Though I did love exploring Seattle! Not gonna lie - I basically just spent my time there trying to find all the places they filmed Sleepless in Seattle.....

Commute on this fella? Yes, please.

Sean & Neda | Trolley Barn

Sean and Neda's wedding at the Trolley Barn was your typical Scottish/Persian wedding :) It was supposed to rain but we ended up having a gorgeous day with blue sky and all was perfect! There was good food, good drink, good dancing, and of course, good bagpiping.

Congratulations to you guys and hope you have an incredible time in Australia! Thanks for letting me be apart of your day! xoxo

Baby Fig | Whittier Mill Park

Natalie was meant to be a mom - it's just a fact. You know this when you meet her and see how she cares for everyone, you know this when you see her hold a baby, and you know this when she puts a hand on her stomach and talks about her own baby growing inside of her. We don't know the name or sex of the baby, but we know "the Fig" is a sweet blessing from the Lord and a sign of his love and faithfulness. I can't wait to see Duck and Natalie be parents and I can't wait for the Fig to come into the world and feel all of the love that already surrounds him. (yeah, I think it's a boy....)

Love you both!

'Tis the Season!

I seriously cannot believe it's December! I love Christmastime so much and I've been trying to hang onto every bit of it and not let it go too fast. But the season has been b-a-n-a-n-a-s already, full of Christmas shopping, travel, cough drops, and - last but not least - family sessions! 'Tis the season for Christmas cards, as you know :) Thank you so much to everyone who invited me in to capture their family moments this holiday season! Here's a few tidbits from some of the sweet family sessions!

Thanh & Harmony | Serenbe

Meet Thanh and Harmony! These guys first met through - of all things - a wrongly delivered package. Totally sounds like a movie plot. They are so sweet and generous and ridiculously silly. I've gotten to know them well over this past year and they are so fun to be around. Although I'll warn you from personal experience, Thanh isn't all smiles and puppies and rainbows. This guy will completely kick your butt in Boot Camp at 5:45 in the morning......

Harmony also happens to be an incredible portrait photographer

Thanh & Harmony are getting hitched in March! Congrats, you two, and I wish you all the best in the world!

Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair | MODA

The current exhibit at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) is bold, bright, and inspiring. It's essentially a fashion show featuring ensembles that at one time were featured in the Ebony Fashion Fair. It's come to Atlanta after debuting at the Chicago History Museum, so this is only the second venue ever to host it! But it's primarily about the story of how the Ebony Fashion Fair and Mrs. Eunice Johnson's (the show's director and producer) fight to bring high fashion and beauty to everyone in the 60's, particularly the African-American population. According to MODA's Executive Director, Laura Flusche, it is about the "belief that everyone should have equal access to glamour and beauty...It is not just looking at fashion. It is a history story; a political story; a story of entrepreneurship all from one amazing person.

It's only in town until January 4th, so don't miss it!

Steven & Maegan | Greensboro, GA

Oh my. I felt so lucky to have been able to be apart of Steven & Maegan's sweet wedding day. I knew as soon as I walked in that it was going to be a great day. The bridesmaids' wedding morning playlist included all my favorite music and I could not love Maegan's style any more. Not to mention the fact that the wedding party was just a great time. It was a small, intimate wedding with so much love, support, and joy. They care so deeply for each other and seeing them together almost makes you feel like you're watching a movie.

Thank you both for letting me be there for your beautiful day! Congratulations and I wish you two all the best!
